5.- REMEMBER THE SPELLING RULES to DOUBLE FINAL THE CONSONANT:

a) cons. + vowel + consonant: C v C
b) only 1 vowel: 1
c) stress on the last syllable: '
ÓPEN > a,b but not c > OPENED
SUGGÉST > b, c but not a > SUGGESTED
OBTAIN > c, but not a,b > OBTAINED
BUT
PERMÍT > PERMITTED
STOP > STOPPED
